  Wine &  Evening and More....

Preparations began at the end of December with the hunt for a venue and progressed until the event itself on the Saturday evening. Even when you feel everything is in place there always seems to be much to finalise in the last hours.

Our pendulum of concerns had swung from "Will there be enough people to run the event" to "Will we be able to accommodate enough chairs and tables for people to be comfortable". We had a fantastic response in the end and the room was full of almost 80 enthusiastic people keen to learn about wines and to taste as many as possible! Charles, our wine consultant offered nine different wines in total - reds, whites, a tawny port and a sparkling rose and generous tastes were offered throughout the evening accompanied by useful tips on pricing and what to look for when buying wines. Tastings were carried out with both cheeses and chocolate – perhaps not what you would normally expect. Those who wanted to take part in a quiz were invited to do so and a prize was offered to the winner.

A buffet was offered with varied and delicious items – chicken tikka with mango dip, chicken satay, canapés, French home cooked delicacies and fabulous cheeses to mention but a few – all items were generously donated by supporters to whom we are extremely grateful.

In addition Paul played live saxophone throughout the evening and provided a fabulous atmosphere from start to finish.

Altogether with the raffle and auction the evening raised £1,500 and we would like to thank everyone who supported the event and helped to make it a success.
